The Hague

Today, we take a train from Rotterdam down to the Hague, where we head to a tourist attraction the Madurodam. Madurodam consists of many minatures of the renowed architectural sites in Netherlands. The lady at the counter warned us that due to the snow, the attractions weren't as they usually were. A lot of the small figurines present in the models were covered in snow and many of the mechanisms in the models could not be operated. However, we still decided to see Madurodam since we were already there. At the end, we did have a lot of fun taking photos. From the brochure given to us, we could tell that the models were very detailed with small figurines out in the open. However, we could not see them at all because of the snow and could only picture them through the photographs in the brochure. There's supposed to be a Tulip bulb field in Lisse, a cheese market and a liberation day procession that I could not find.

I like this photo, think its a rather artistic photo. We came across the real building in Rotterdam.

Vredespaleis (The Peace Palace), The Hague


The house to the right of the building with the red windows is the famous Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. The Jewish girl Anne Frank wrote her moving diary in this place of hiding between 1942 and 1944. In the canal in front of the house and else-where in this area of Amsterdam there are a number of houseboats. I learn that in Amsterdam, many of the canals are occupied by houseboats alongside the wharves. This proved to be true when I was in Amsterdam the next day.
