Speeding through Brussels

Belgium wasn't exactly on our agenda. However, it happened that the flight through Brussels to Stockholm was one of the cheapest flights we could get, we decided to take a train down to Brussels from Amsterdam and spend a few hours there.


Once at the train station, we spot a Waffle shop and wanna attack the waffles


We decided to check out the train timings for the train to Brussel airport first.


Then we had Belgium Waffles with Chocolate sauce!

We ended up having a marathon of Brussels... We didn't have any prior knowledge of Brussels or any map or guidebooks on hand. We ended up accepting a pamphlet of a bus day tour and started our explorations from there. The first stop was St Michel church.

After visiting the church, we proceeded to look for the town hall. We passed by this gallery on the way.

Initially, we were commented that there was really nothing much to see in Brussels however, once we came out of a little street and saw the town hall in front of us, we kind of just shut up. The buildings surrounding the town square were all very fantastic and we started on a photographic frenzy, because of our shortage of time. Unfortunately, I had no time to find out he purposes of these buildings nor did I have a chance to explore their interiors further.

Chocolates! Cote d'Or here is from Netherlands though. The hazelnut
praline is very good!

And then we saw it again. Belgium waffles! In fact, waffles are sold
throughout the streets.

After all the touring, we start looking around for some lunch cum dinner. We walk past town hall again in search for some grub.



We walk through Galleries Royales St Hubert and find ourselve in some dimly lit streets lined with restaurants.

We walk around a bit admiring the nice shops and restaurants. However, the prices don't suit us, and we proceed elsewhere for food.

Cannot tahan. In the end, I have another waffle with strawberries and cream this time. Sheer heaven. Pricer than the simple shop at the station, but you can taste the difference.
