Cruise to Tallin

Today, after a presentation for our imaging processing project and another tutorial for image processing, we are off to tallin! The cruise offered by the company Tallink is actually super super cheap if you book a cabin on one of their offer dates. For this cruise, we paid 95 SEK each, which is only slightly more than 20 Sing.

Come to think of it, they're pretty smart to make the cruise tickets so cheap. It encourages people to take the cruises and spend money. Basically, almost any sort of entertainment on board costs money. You can do the sauna ($$), or have some food at the restuarants, cafes, pubs on board or you can go shopping for alcohol, chocolates and perfumes at the duty-free shops, or yes... you can head for the mini-casino.

Okay, it is a really small casino... not even a casino, just a... gambling area? There are about 8 jackpot machines, one black-jack table and one roulette table. In the beginning, we walked around a bit with nothing to do, because all the shops weren't open yet. Then, somehow, under Dom's lead, they pulled money together to play some jackpot. They chipped in 10 sek each $2.50, but I was not convinced of the returns. Well, to give them some credit, they did do pretty well at first and even made a profit of 2 sek at one time. However, of course, the 3 silly dudes lost their 30 sek eventually. It was probably worth the 40 minutes of entertainment though. Okay, so after some jackpot, the 3 guys decide to venture on to something bigger. Actually, still rather pathetic, compared to LV, but yeah.. this is entertainment. Each of them changed 100 SEK to play black jack, while I watched on. Anyway, the dealer is really nifty with her fingers and counts very quickly. However, she is rather stuffy and doesn't chit-chat or attempt to be friendly at all... After all the guys have lost their money.. Ahahhaha! all $27.50 poorer, we watch a little roulette. After somemore shopping at the duty-free shops, we head back to the cabins.

Okay, then I duno what happened to me. I fell asleep while studying my Swedish, which is really kind of sad, considering that I'm on a cruise ship and supposed to be partying all night. At 12 am, the boys went to watch some dance show in the show bar, which I completely missed. At 1am, I finally woke up to check it out, but by then, it was all over, so I went back to sleep. So next morning, after my almost 12 hour straight hibernation on a cruise ship, the boys tell me about the dance last night. They are pretty excited. According to them, the dancing is pretty hot and the girls don't wear very much. And in some part of the dance, the girls went up to the guys sitting in the front rows and covered their heads with their dresses! And so now, they all plan to sit in the front row during the return trip.. Ahemm..
